Position Reporting:

This position is part of Sunday Cool - Operations reporting to the Inventory WarehouseManager.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 3:30pm [40 hours/week].  

Overtime may be required based on workload and production demands. This position will be likely to have overtime or weekend work during the peak of busy season, running May-July.

Full-time position: $18/hour

The Pre-Press Supervisor assumes a dual role, overseeing both the Pre-Press Department and the Reclaim Department, with the aim of ensuring the seamless commencement and efficient operation of team members throughout the day. Their primary responsibility is to establish optimal conditions for production, encompassing tasks such as screen preparation and the vigilant monitoring of daily performance indicators (KPIs)to guarantee successful outcomes.

Workflow Coordination:

  • Effectively manage the workflow within the pre-press department to prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.
  • Delegate responsibilities to screen technicians and ascertain their competence through training.
  • Promptly provide re-burns (when necessary) to Operations.

Maintenance and Equipment Care:

  • Create schedules and conduct routine maintenance on printing equipment to preempt breakdowns and uphold consistent output quality. This includes weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning and maintenance procedures.
  • Arrange for equipment repairs or servicing as the need arises.

Inventory Oversight:

  • Supervise inventory levels for screens, sponges, chemicals, printer cleaner, tape, printer ink, emulsion, etc. and promptly communicate reorder requirements to the Monday.com Supplies Board.

Training and Skill Development:

  • Instruct newly onboarded pre-press technicians in the organization's processes and procedures, encompassing a range of tasks such as coating screens with UNI-KOTE, emulsion mixing, operation of i-IMAGES (stencil creation) equipment, utilization of theStarlight exposure unit, operation of Eco-Rinse, screen cleanup with an air compressor after Eco-Rinse, screen taping for printing, and quality control checks on screens using the light table.
  • Train newly appointed reclaim associates in various departmental processes, including but not limited to collecting screens from racks, screen spraying, proper soaking of screens in emulsion-stripping solution, cleaning of squeegees, flood bars, and ink buckets, and understanding the department's chemical usage.

Interdepartmental Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between the pre-press department and other organizational units, including separations, production, art, scheduling, and receiving.
  • Relay any separation or artwork-related issues to the Seps Department.
  • Maintain communication with the Production Manager regarding job status, screens ready for burning, and completed screens.
  • Communicate with the ink department as it relates to inventory levels for ink buckets and swatches.

Troubleshooting:

  • Address technical issues related to I-iMAGE equipment and engage with relevant parties when necessary.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Employ the Monday Pre-Press Board to monitor daily KPIs for the Pre-Press department, covering metrics such as screens burned, screens coated, reburn quantities, re-cleaned screen quantities, printer errors, and broken screens.
  • Initiate the identification of KPIs for the Reclaim Department to enhance efficiency within the department.

Supervision of Digital Printing Setup:

  • Oversee digital printing equipment to ensure proper calibration and maintenance for consistent high-quality output.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct comprehensive quality checks on printed samples, verifying alignment, colors, and overall print quality against established standards.
  • Promptly identify and rectify any printing defects or issues.

 

Cultural functions:  

To foster a constructive atmosphere within my department, I plan to institute daily meetings where we can discuss key performance indicators(KPIs), set daily objectives, and proactively address any anticipated challenges, including rush CSI’s. Additionally, we will review the previous day's performance relative to our goals. As the team's supervisor, I aim to promote synergy between the two departments by cross-training all team members and fostering transparent communication among them.

 

Physical Requirements:  

This position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to maneuver around printing equipment, narrow aisles, and lift up to 50 pounds.
